CTCMath: A Complete Online Math Program (Review)

Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

Are you looking for an easy to use comprehensive math curriculum? CTCMath is an online math homeschool, which is perfect for Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Since this is a self-pace program, students can complete CTCMath in their own time, which means they can take the diagnostic tests as pretests before watching the 4 to 9 minute video tutorials, completing the interactive questions or worksheet, reviewing the one page summaries, to see if they can move to the sections they need to learn. You are able to access your account online and see your student’s progress reports and schedule work for them. You will also receive weekly emails.

Our Experience:

When I was in high school Algebra 2 came before Geometry, so that is how we did it for Christie this past year. We discovered that today’s Algebra 2 has a lot of Geometry, so we probably should have switch programs around. I was excited that she would have the opportunity to review CTCMath, since she would be able to go at her own pace and take the diagnostic tests to see if she could skip certain sections. She has done just that. By taking the Standard and Comprehensive diagnostic tests and passing them with a minimum of 80%, she quickly finished Part 1. Christie is currently working on Parallel Lines, Triangles and Polygons and also on Perimeter and Area in Part 2.

My Thoughts:

I really like how flexible this math program is, especially since I had Christie do Algebra 2 first. She is able to take advantage of the diagnostic tests (passing with 80% grade that I was able to set) and learn the new sections with the short videos, interactive activities, worksheets, and summaries. These different methods work well for her and those with different learning styles.

Access to the Weekly Reports (They are also emailed. As a busy mom, I appreciate knowing weekly how Christie is doing.)

Christie’s Thoughts (Entering 10th Grade):

I worked on CTCMath’s Geometry course three days a week for the whole duration of the review period. I worked through the parts and sections by doing the standard and comprehensive diagnostic tests and getting an 80% or more to pass the section. If I didn’t get 80%, I did the interactive work and took the tests again.

I like having the diagnostic tests available, because it allows me to move past topics that I already know to move onto the ones I need to work on. I will be continuing to use this program until I have completed it entirely.
